As a child, I found myself drawn to the intricate yet seemingly chaotic beauty of Mother Nature's creations. From the miniature metropolis of an ant colony to the graceful march of elephants across the landscape, her artistry stirred my imagination and fueled my curiosity. I was captivated by the harmonious balance and the raw, unfiltered expression of life that surrounded me.

To deepen my connection with our planet, I embarked on a journey of exploration and discovery. Immersing myself in the study of the natural world, I began to unravel the lines, curves, and angles of its inhabitants. Each creature, from the tiniest insect to the mightiest mammal, became a subject of fascination and inspiration for my artistic endeavors. It was during this exploration that the idea for "Dusk in Salt Lake City" began to take shape. Originally conceived as a simple sketch, the artwork evolved over time, morphing into a medium that allowed me to delve deeper into the complexities of our relationship with Earth.

Drawing on my passion for experimentation, I turned to pyrography, or leather burning, as a means of bringing my vision to life. The departure from my usual sketches of the animal kingdom was prompted by the yearning to view the world through a different lens, to explore new techniques and perspectives that would challenge both myself and my audience.

Inspiration struck as I contemplated the simplicity of our urban infrastructure's clean, unwavering lines against the ever-shifting majesty of the mountains. This contrast, between the rigid structures of human civilization and the organic beauty of the natural world, became the driving force behind my artistic expression.

I sought to capture the essence of this complex relationship, infusing the leather canvas with the emotions and insights from my experience with the wild. The result was a visual narrative that spoke to the relationships of all things, inviting viewers to contemplate their own place within the vast tapestry of existence.

Through my art, I hope to inspire others to seek a deeper understanding of our world and their place within it. May my work ignite a passion for conservation and stewardship, as we strive to create a better and more harmonious world for generations to come.
